When I decided to change my lifestyle to a more healthy one, I started to look for information about the food I eat every day and how can I make that food more healthy.
And one of the things I decided to try to make myself was bread.

But I also tried to make the sourdough bread and now it is my new love!
You will find plenty of recipes, where it takes around 24h to make bread. I don’t like sourdough bread recipes like that, cause I have work and social life and I don’t want to spend plenty of my time in the kitchen. SO, I was trying to find a recipe that is gonna be easy, but healthy and delicious.
And I have it!
First of all, you need to have a sourdough starter.

To be honest, I didn’t make sourdough starter myself, I just take some from my mother in law. And if you want to make your own, just do it! So, I really recommend you to buy from someone, because the process is really very long. It will take you around 15 to 20 days to make a good sourdough starter. And there is a rule: “older the sourdough starter is the better”. The smell of your bread really depends on how good is your it has this amazing sourdough starter.
Let’s assume you already have a sourdough starter in your fredge=)
And here is my the easy 5-steps sourdough bread recipe:
In the morning, you need to feed your starter with flour and water.
How to make it:
- Take 50g of flour and 50ml of water and mix it very well.
- Then add this mix to your starter and mix it one more time
- leave the sourdough starter in the room temperature for about 6-8, even 12 hours, to wake up and grow.
When the starter is ready take 200gr and mix with warm water (400ml).
Mix flower with the extras of your choice. I usually add melon seeds, sunflower seeds, flax seeds. And the flowers I use are 250g rye flour, 150g spelt flour and 100g wholemeal wheat flour. And a bit of salt. I add 10g of pink Himalayan salt.
Mix very well the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients. I use the BOSCH robot to mix it, because the dough it steaky and hard to mix. But if you don’t have a robot mixing with hands is ok as well. You need to mix the ingredients for about 5 minutes, to make them perfectly mixed.
And leave the dough under the towel in a warm place for about 3-4 hours to grow. If you want to make it faster you can put it into the oven on 122 °F(50 °C) for 1-2 hours.
Take the bread pan, cover it with baking paper, put your bread dough, decorate with some seeds, and put into the over warmed up to 430°F (220 °C) for 1 hour.
After 40 minutes you can check if your bread is ready. I usually make it with a sushi chopstick.
After the bread is ready, take it out of the over and the bread pan, cover with a towel and leave for the next 8-12 hours. In my case, I bake the bread in the evening, and in the morning it is perfectly ready=)
Note: if you start to cut the warm bread it is going to steak to the knife and it would be very hard to cut it. So, just wait till the morning and it will be perfectly ready for the breakfast=)
